SHPBN-2017-011 Hearing Tests Done by Hearing Instrument Specialists

Effective May 15, 2017, the listed audiology hearing tests may be performed by hearing instrument specialists, also known as hearing aid dealers (PT/PS 22/220), as long as they are licensed as hearing instrument fitters and dispensers within the State of Kansas. The hearing instrument specialist must be an enrolled Medicaid provider to perform and bill the following codes.
Once the practitioner is enrolled with KMAP to provide and bill for these new codes, they will need to send Sunflower Health Plan their new CAQH or roster form and a new Disclosure of Ownership (DOO). Please send these documents to providerrelations@sunflowerhealthplan.com.
Facilities are required to complete a new credentialing application, available on our website, and provide the necessary documentation.

Hearing tests will continue to be considered content of service to fitting and dispensing of a hearing aid.
