KMAP BULLETIN: Healthy Blue Option for Provider Enrollment
Date: 10/29/24
KMAP GENERAL BULLETIN 24215 (PDF)
Effective October 28, 2024, providers not currently enrolled with the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) can choose to contract with Healthy Blue as a KanCare managed care organization (MCO) provider. Enrollment as a KMAP provider is required to enroll with a KanCare MCO.
Please note the following key actions:
- Providers that have contracted with Healthy Blue for Kansas Medicaid will be automatically enrolled with Healthy Blue through KMAP if they are already an active, enrolled KMAP provider through December 27, 2024.
- Healthy Blue may work separately with some providers that are being auto-enrolled in KMAP to obtain documentation for credentialing. This will mainly be Home and Community-Based Service (HCBS) providers.
- Providers that are new to KMAP or not currently active that wish to enroll with Healthy Blue must complete the enrollment process in the KMAP provider portal.
KMAP and Healthy Blue are working together to establish contracts with providers already enrolled with KMAP and credentialed with a Blue Cross program. Healthy Blue will communicate any documentation requirements to complete this process.
After December 27, 2024, all providers will be expected to follow the normal enrollment process in the KMAP portal to enroll with Healthy Blue. Providers wishing to enroll with Sunflower or United Health Care are expected to enroll as normal through the KMAP portal. The KMAP auto-enrollment is a temporary process for Healthy Blue onboarding only.
KanCare MCO providers are required to be enrolled by KMAP prior to contracting with the MCOs. New providers enrolling for the first time or previous providers re-enrolling with KMAP will have the option to start contracting with Healthy Blue and the existing MCOs by submitting an application in the ProviderEnrollment Wizard then selecting MCO(s) at the time of enrollment.
Providers are required to have a KMAP identification (ID) number to participate with the MCOs. Failure to enroll an active KanCare network service location with KMAP will prohibit the provider from participating in the KanCare program and will result in denial of claims.
Providers can contact KMAP at 1-800-933-6593 with any additional questions, including details regarding their enrollment status with KMAP.
