KMAP BULLETIN: Autism Waiver Self-Directed Respite Services and EVV

Effective with dates of service on and after April 1, 2022, families will have the option of Autism Waiver self-direct Respite Services (T1005). The rate for this service will be $2.93 per unit. Modifier U6 must be attached to the claim to differentiate between self-directed and agency-directed Respite Services.

Self-directed services will require the use of Financial Management Services (FMS) utilizing the T2040 U2 code for reimbursement. Additionally, in compliance with the 21st Century CURES Act, and beginning on December 3, 2023, providers using the self-direct Respite service code will be required to utilize electronic visit verification (EVV).

Note: The effective date of the policy is April 1, 2022. The implementation of State policy by the KanCare managed care organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins.
