KMAP BULLETIN: HCBS – Adding Services for AuthentiCare Coverage

Effective February 24, 2020, the state is adding services to Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)/AuthentiCare. The 21st Century Cures Act mandates that states require EVV use for Medicaid-funded Personal Care Services (PCS). Medicaid PCS Authorities subject to EVV requirements include 1915(c) HCBS waivers per Section 12006 of the Cures Act 1905(a)(24).
The new services added to comply with the Cures Act are:
- FE Adult Day Care
- IDD Supported Employment
- IDD Wellness Monitoring
- TA Health Maintenance Monitoring
- TA Intermittent Medical Care
- TA Personal Care Services – Agency Directed
- TA Specialized Medical Care
- TA Medical Respite Care
Providers using these service codes will be able to submit claims beginning on the targeted date of February 24, 2020, subject to change by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS). KDADS Program Integrity and Compliance, in collaboration with Fiserv, will be training providers of newly added services on the use of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).

The implementation of State policy by the KanCare managed care organizations (MCOs) may vary from the date noted in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) bulletins.
